The Little Liberty Community Learning
Center (LLCLC) is a 21st Century Community Learning Center. The LLCLC
operates from four public schools in Miami-Dade County: Charles R. Drew Middle
Community School, Riverside Elementary Community School, Toussaint L'Ouverture
Elementary Community School, and Paul Laurence Dunbar Elementary School.
The purpose of this program is to offer academic, artistic, and cultural
enrichment opportunities to students and their families when school is not in
session. Our services are mainly delivered through after school tutoring
programs. In addition to academic tutoring, we also provide students with
a board array of activities such as drug and violence prevention, counseling,
art, dance, recreation, and technology. Operating hours differ between
schools. Please visit individual school sites for more information.
The goals of the LLCLC are to: 1) provide
and facilitate supervised learning opportunities for all students, especially
those who are identified as academically low achieving, during before-school and
after-school hours 2) increase students' attendance 3) improve reading,
mathematics, science, and computer literacy skills as identified by state and
district standards 4) provide activities in parental involvement, expand health
education and nutrition services, and offer drug awareness and prevention
programs.
